TIPS FOR MAXIMUM EFFECTIVENESS

Always prepare a few days in advance by knowing the order and content of your session each week.

Set up a relaxed environment for your students: avoid theater seating, avoid distractions like cell phones, and always disperse mentors around the room with students.

Each mentor should line up as students enter and exit the room to greet them by name and give positive touch like a high-five, fist bump, or a short side hug.

Work as a team with the other mentors in your group. Learn your fellow mentors’ strengths and understand your own.

Manage your time effectively by watching the clock. If needed, you can cut the activities that have a designated time symbol next to them. NEVER cut small group or field guide sections from your session.
